Need a Meter Read?
Are you in need of a meter reading? Amherst County Service Authority (ACSA) uses positive displacement water meters, which can not register water use unless water is passing through the displacement chamber. This makes it extremely unlikely for a meter to ever over register. Yet, we believe any customer has a right to request a meter test, within the following two conditions:
- The customer agrees to pay the meter test fee of $50.00 if they have requested that the meter be tested and it is either reading within American Waterworks Association (AWWA) tolerance or under registers or
- If the tested meter over registers (reads more water than actually flows through the meter) outside of AWWA tolerance, ACSA shall replace the meter, adjust the bill, and no meter test fee shall be charged.
